Exports volume climbs 28.6% YoY in January
Imports also rose by double digits.
The volume of exports and imports rose double digits in January 2024, rising 28.6% YoY and 16.9% YoY, respectively.
“Changes in volume of external merchandise trade are derived from changes in external merchandise trade value with the effect of price changes discounted,” the Census and Statistics Department (C&SD) explained.
Data from the C&SD also showed that total export volume to all main destinations increased, led by Mainland (+47.5%), followed by India (44.2%), Taiwan (38.7%), Vietnam (23.8%) and the USA (6.4%).
Meanwhile, the prices of total exports and imports of goods also increased in January by 3.8% and 3.9%, respectively.
