FEHD to auction 474 stalls in 43 public markets

Leasing period will be a three-year fixed term beginning 1 September, with no renewal upon expiry.

The Food and Environmental Hygiene Department (FEHD) will auction 474 stalls in 43 public markets in August 2025.

The stalls to be auctioned covers cooked food, frozen meat, fresh meat, fresh fish, frozen (chilled) poultry, fruits, vegetables, amongst others. 

Leasing period will be a three-year fixed term from 1 September, with no renewal upon expiry.

Stalls not taken at the open auctions will be available to the public for renting at their prices on 22 August on a first-come, first-served basis. The upset prices of the monthly rent of the stalls vary depending on the sizes, locations and vacancy periods.

A discount of 20% of open market rent will be given to stalls vacant for over six months whilst 40% will be given to stalls vacant for over eight months.

The open auctions will be held at Room 410, 4/F, Food and Environmental Hygiene Department Nam Cheong Offices and Vehicle Depot, 87 Yen Chow Street West, Kowloon.

Seats are available on a first-come, first-served basis, admission tickets will be issued 30 minutes before each auction.

Participants must wait at the waiting area of the auction venue and show their Hong Kong ID card or passport for registration.

For renting at upset price, the tenancy agreement of market stalls renting on a first-come, first-served basis is a three-year fixed term from October 1, with no renewal upon expiry.

The upset prices of the monthly rent of the stalls also vary depending on their sizes, locations, vacancy periods and the reduced upset prices from the last open auction of the individual stalls.
