Tung Chung reclamation and advance works contract signed for $12.08b

The project will provide 49,000 residential flats and 870,000 sqm of commercial floor space.

As part of the government’s efforts to increase land supply in the medium to long-term, the Civil Engineering & Development signed a $12.08b contract for reclamation works in Tung Chung East and advance works for the Tung Chung New Town Extension project last January 10, according to a government press release.

The new town extension project will provide 49,000 residential flats and 870,000 sqm of commercial floor space.

It can also accommodate a population of up to 140,000 and create 40,000 employment opportunities.

Works began last year and will provide land in phases with an expected population intake by 2023.
