Space availability constraints stunts industrial market

Improved trade environment offset as a result.

Trade figures improved in Q3 as total exports and re-exports both increased, while improved trade environment was offset by tight space availability which resulted in a limited level of leasing activities.

According to CBRE's preview of the Hong Kong property market's Q3 2014 performance, meanwhile, overall warehouse vacancy rates stood at sub-1% level for third consecutive quarter in Q3 2014.

On the back of sustained leasing demand, rents rose a further 1.6% in Q3 2013, bringing y-t-d growth to 5.1%.

This is also the 21st consecutive quarter that rents were on the rise, CBRE said.

The report noted, however, that the figures it presented are preliminary and may be subject to change in the final version.
