Hong Kong Class A office rents are most expensive in the world

London followed closely after.

According to Colliers International, in terms of occupancy costs, the world’s five most-expensive cities for office rentals have remained unchanged since June 2012. Hong Kong Class A office rents were still the highest, as of December 2012, followed by London’s West End, Tokyo, Rio de Janeiro and Paris, in that order.

The vast majority of companies in Asia who are inquiring about office leasing are seeking either the same amount or more space.

That means the region’s demand fundamentals remain positive. “Some key Asian markets are currently experiencing the challenges of external economic headwinds and slower-than-expected GDP growth. As a result, most overseas corporations are being cost-conscious, and they are opting to relocate to decentralised locations,” explains Simon Lo, Executive Director of Research & Advisory, Asia, at Colliers International.
