HK’s largest sports infrastructure seen boosting economy with mega concerts
The park’s operator has contacted over 200 sports and non-sports promotional bodies.
The Kai Tak Sports Park (KTSP) will bring in more large-scale concerts, boosting Hong Kong’s economy according to Secretary for Culture, Sports and Tourism Rosanna Law.
Law said the KTSP will boost sports development and drive related industries such as recreation, entertainment, tourism, and the mega-event economy, upon opening in the first quarter of 2025.
She highlighted that the park’s operator has contacted over 200 sports and non-sports promotional bodies, organisations and agencies, with many committing and indicating to rent the venue’s facilities for events.
Law also noted that an average of 15 large-scale pop concerts were held in Hong Kong each month from 2023 to 2024. This brought 4.2 million spectators and an added value of about $2.2b to the city’s economy.
