Hong Kong offices fall short on basics despite high attendance

Quiet rooms and equipment for individual roles are the missing pieces.

Despite having the highest rate (75%) of full-time office attendance, Hong Kong’s office basics fall behind, according to a Crown Workspace report.

The report surveyed 1,250 employees and facilities decision makers across six regions, including Hong Kong, the United Kingdom, the United States, Singapore, India and New Zealand.

Employees noted that quiet rooms and equipment for individual roles are missing pieces in the daily experience of Hong Kong workers.

“The cost of outdated layouts and insufficient facilities is far more pronounced than in markets where employees spend less time on site,” the report said.

Across all surveyed regions, 91% of employees say they would choose to spend more time in the office if it better supported their needs.

In parallel, 76% of facilities leaders expect to create more interactive and engaging environments within the next three years.
