HKMU LiPACE lauded at Hong Kong Business Management Excellence Awards 2026 for education programme
Its HKMU LiPACE-SUIT programme has gained recognition locally and internationally, becoming a model for cross-boundary vocational education in the Greater Bay Area.
The Hong Kong Metropolitan University Li Ka Shing School of Professional and Continuing Education (HKMU LiPACE) was decorated as the Team of the Year - Education in the coveted Hong Kong Business Management Excellence Awards 2026 for its pioneering cross-boundary education programme, which is the first to integrate Hong Kong’s two-year vocational education system with Shenzhen’s three-year higher vocational education framework.
Jointly launched with the Shenzhen University of Information Technology (SUIT)^, the programme offers students a unique opportunity to earn dual diplomas* from both HKMU LiPACE and SUIT whilst being immersed in cross-boundary learning experiences. Over the course of three years, students must complete business English courses at SUIT, followed by tourism and hospitality studies at HKMU LiPACE, before completing a four-month internship in Shenzhen.
This structure not only enhances academic skills but also equips students with practical knowledge, cross-cultural competencies, and industry-specific expertise.
The HKMU LiPACE-SUIT programme stands out for its revolutionary approach to cross-boundary education. By seamlessly integrating two distinct educational systems, it addresses the challenges of mutual recognition of academic credits and qualifications.
HKMU LiPACE emphasises project-based learning, group collaboration, and coursework, whilst SUIT focuses on individual assessments and examinations. This dual approach allows students to experience both educational styles, fostering adaptability, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills. Close collaboration with industry also ensures that the curriculum remains relevant and provides hands-on experiences.
With its first cohort of 14 graduates who completed their education in June 2025, the programme has not only transformed the academic and professional trajectories of its graduates but has also gained recognition from higher education institutions locally and internationally. It has also set a precedent for future cross-boundary collaborations, demonstrating the potential of education to bridge cultural and systemic divides.
“As a trailblazer in educational innovation, the HKMU LiPACE-SUIT programme deserves recognition for its groundbreaking contributions to cross-boundary education and talent development,” the institution said.
The Hong Kong Business Management Excellence Awards honours the most outstanding leaders, innovators, and teams whose initiatives have driven significant business success in Hong Kong.
