Airport Authority Hong Kong wins at Hong Kong Business Greater Bay Area Enterprise Awards 2026

Airport Authority Hong Kong (AAHK) continues to strengthen regional air connectivity through the expansion of intermodal services across the Greater Bay Area (GBA).

AAHK has won in the Aviation category in the Hong Kong Business Greater Bay Area Enterprise Awards 2026 for the intermodal network and services of Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA) in the GBA. These services enhance HKIA’s connectivity within the region and deliver a seamless travel experience for passengers connecting to international destinations via the airport.

Positioned as a leading international gateway in the Asia-Pacific region, HKIA connects Asian markets with the rest of the world through an extensive global route network. To broaden its market reach and support regional integration, HKIA continues to enhance intermodal services linking the airport with major cities across the GBA.

Leveraging the growing transport infrastructure in Chinese Mainland, the intermodal network connects HKIA with more than 110 destinations in the GBA through a combination of high-speed ferries, coaches, limousines, high-speed rail, and the “Park & Fly” service.

Ferry services play a significant role in the network. SkyPier Terminal at HKIA provides direct links to seven ferry ports in Dongguan, Guangzhou, Macao, Shenzhen, and Zhongshan. Passengers can complete upstream check-in and bag drop at the port as if they were physically at HKIA, allowing them to proceed straight to the departure gates upon arrival at the airport. Since the service’s launch in 2005, AAHK has been working with business partners to actively expand ferry coverage. For example, ferry services were extended to Pazhou, Guangzhou in 2023 in response to increased overseas traffic during the Canton Fair.

Land-based options include coach services to major GBA destinations and the premium SkyLimo service, which offers door-to-door transport. In 2023, the transfer coach services to Macao and Zhuhai were introduced via the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge (HZMB). Similar to ferry services, passengers can complete upstream check-in before entering the airport’s restricted area. Building on this, the automated car park “Park & Fly” located at the Hong Kong Port of the HZMB, which commissioned in November 2025, has enabled passengers to drive directly to the facility and proceed straight to boarding.

Rail-to-air connectivity further extends the airport’s reach across the Mainland’s extensive high-speed rail network. A city terminal was opened at Guangzhou South Railway Station in September 2025, providing flight information and passenger services for high-speed rail travellers. Plans are underway to introduce similar facilities at other key rail stations across the region.

Beyond infrastructure, over 35 city terminals are now operating across the GBA as of January 2026. Collaboration with Zhuhai Airport and Shenzhen Airport also supports cross-boundary air transfers. Both “Fly-via-Zhuhai-Hong Kong” and “Fly-via-Shenzhen-Hong Kong” services facilitate smooth transfer from Mainland domestic flights to international destinations via HKIA.
