HK launches Building Technology Research Institute

DEVB will give BTRi $10m in funding.

The government has announced the official establishment of the Building Technology Research Institute (BTRi).

The Development Bureau will give BTRi $10m to fund initial operation. BTRi will focus on R&D for innovative construction materials, methods, and technologies, as well as developing standards, conducting tests, and providing accreditation.

The institute also aims to develop the Greater Bay Area into an advanced area of construction technologies.

Meanwhile, Hon Chi-keung and Chan Ka-kui were also appointed as Chairperson and Vice Chairperson of the BTRi board, respectively.
