IATA pilots digitalisation charter amongst air cargo industry

The charter adheres to five key principles for digital transformation.

The International Air Transport Association (IATA) has launched the Digitalisation Leadership Charter at the IATA World Cargo symposium in Hong Kong.

Cathay Cargo, CHAMP Cargosystems, Global Logistics System (HK) Company Limited, IAG Cargo, IBS Software, LATAM Cargo, and Lufthansa Cargo were the first signatories during its launch.

The charter focuses on accelerating the digitalisation of the air cargo industry with five guiding principles committed to innovation, enhanced efficiency, and sustainable, harmonised digital transformation.

“By adhering to the Charter's principles—adopting industry-wide standards, championing sustainability, ensuring ethical technology use, and upholding digital leadership—the charter sets a benchmark for excellence.” IATA’s Global Head of Cargo, Brendan Sullivan, said.

The charter also included the significance of data sharing using IATA ONE Record for smooth and efficient data exchange.
