Cathay Pacific records a 61.6% growth in passenger traffic in February 2024

The airline recorded its most passengers in a single day on 18 February.

Cathay Pacific recorded an increase of 61.6% in passenger traffic, carrying a total of 1,801,174 passengers in February 2024.

The airline carried more than 70,000 passengers and operated a total of 272 passenger flight sectors on 18 February, the most in a single day since the pandemic’s start.

In the same month, revenue passenger kilometres (RPKs) rose 50.3% year on year (YoY), while passenger load factor decreased by 3.8 percentage points to 82.4%. Available seat kilometres (ASKs) increased 57.3% YoY.

The first two months of 2024 saw an increase in the number of passengers carried by 63.9% against a 60.6% increase in ASKs and a 53.4% increase in RPKs.

The airline carried 107,039 tonnes of cargo in February 2024, a 3% YoY increase. Cargo revenue tonne kilometres (RFTKs) was up by 3.8%.

Cargo load factor decreased to 59.2% by 7.5 percentage points, whereas available cargo tonne kilometres (AFTKs) increased by 16.9% YoY.

Tonnage rose 11.4% within the first two months against a 17.6% up in AFTKs and a 7.5% increase in RFTKs, as compared with the same period for 2023.
