Cathay Pacific marks 80 years with Hong Kong art livery
The aircraft entered service after unveiling.
Cathay Pacific and the West Kowloon Cultural District Authority unveiled a “Spirit of Hong Kong – 80th Anniversary Edition” aircraft livery on a Cathay Pacific Boeing 777-300ER.
The companies said the design is intended to showcase Hong Kong’s arts, culture, and creative industries globally, building on a partnership that began in 2023 with Cathay as WestK’s travel partner.
The livery features artwork by Hong Kong multimedia artist Victor Wong, who used technology that generates landscapes from geographical data, and carries Cathay’s “80 Years Together” anniversary mark alongside the WestK logo.
The aircraft entered service after the unveiling ceremony at Hong Kong International Airport, with passengers on the inaugural flight receiving a themed onboard experience that included a reimagined version of Cathay’s sonic branding, Song of Cathay, performed by pianist and composer Patrick Lui.
Ronald Lam, Cathay Group chief executive officer, said the project aims “to support outstanding local artistic creativity and showcase the unique culture and spirit of Hong Kong to audiences around the world”.
Cathay Pacific said the reimagined Song of Cathay will be rolled out on selected Cathay Pacific passenger flights from mid-2026.
