Hong Kongers spend more than a fourth of their day online

It holds the second fastest global average internet connection speed at more than 140 mbps.

Hong Kongers spend more than a fourth of their day on the Internet as roughly 87% of the population or 6.46 million residents are active Internet users, according to Digital in 2018 report from Hootsuite and We are Social.

This comes as no surprise as Hong Kong holds the second fastest global average internet connection speed of 141.56 mbps.

Of the six hours netizens spend on the digital space, more than a third (2 hours 39 minutes) is spent for daily TV viewing time whilst a little over 2 hours is allocated for daily social media use.

Google.com.hk is the most visited website. Facebook clinches the top spot for the most visited social networking site (75%) closely followed by Whatsapp (74%).

More Hong Kongers turn to Yahoo for their news fix and Taobao for their shopping needs.

In terms of mobile connectivity, the country ranks high after posting an overall score of 80.01 out of a possible 100 as it has a strong mobile network infrastructure, affordability, consumer readiness and availability of relevant content and services.
