Fire-damaged stalls at Tai Shing Street Market may be relocated

But repair to severely damaged stalls may take months.

Secretary for Food & Health Dr Ko Wing-man says the Government is considering relocating stalls affected by a fire at Tai Shing Street Market, Wong Tai Sin, so they can continue operating.

Speaking to the media after visiting public markets today, Dr Ko said the Food & Environmental Hygiene Department is concerned about the recent fire.

Most stalls have resumed operation after completing emergency repair works. Those severely damaged will take months to repair, and the department may relocate the stalls to another section, he said.
