Government allows plastic use for pre-packaged food, takeaways
The exception applies to products in supermarkets and department stores.
The Environment Protection Department clarified that pre-packaged food or takeaways for immediate consumption can use plastic cups and plastic food containers.
The exception covers products that are available on the shelves of supermarkets and department stores. The department also stated that customers may consume such products anywhere they wish.

Meanwhile, the business model for food courts in shopping malls, large department stores, and supermarkets differ as food stalls must comply with the regulatory requirements on tableware for dine-in services.
In addition, the department confirmed that the purchase and use of certain disposable plastic products will not be considered a violation of the law under any circumstances.
