Gov't to kick off construction works for Kwu Tung Station mid-2023

The station is under the Northern Link project that connects New Territories and Kowloon.

The Kwu Tung (KTU) Station, under Hong Kong's Northern Link (NOL) project, will begin construction in mid-2023, to be completed by 2027.

Transport and Logistics Secretary Lam Sai-hung said the government will begin building the KTU Station on the East Rail Line's Lok Ma Chau Spur Line, followed by the primary line connection progressively.

Lam said the government will consider the Northern Link's development pace when constructing the KTU station. NOL's Main Line will begin construction in 2025 and will be completed by 2034.

Lam also said the government will continue to monitor the construction's progress for early commissioning and provision of service.

Once completed, the Northern Link project, together with the existing East Rail and Tuen Ma lines, will form a railway loop linking up the New Territories and Kowloon that would not only improve the railway connection between New Territories East and New Territories West, serving the Kyu Tung North New Development Area and the San Tin Technopole, but also explore the potential of land development around Au Tau, Ngau Tam Mei, and San Tin.
