Housing Authority sets new rental rates for housing units
Renters can afford a flat in an urban district for $94.9 per square metre.
The Housing Authority set the rates for 3,943 flats in five new non-standard blocks of four current and existing public housing estates at the best rent level in their districts, subsidising them with included rates, management fees, and maintenance costs.
More than 78% of the city's rental flats have monthly rents less than or equal to $2,500 through the adjustment.
The best monthly rent of $94.9 per square metre in the urban district will apply to 924 flats in Pak Tin Estate's Nga Tin House, whilst $91.8 per square metre will be for the 1,463 flats in Cheung Ching Estate's Ching Ho and Ching Lan houses.

Meanwhile, the best monthly rent of $63.1 per square metre will apply to 684 flats in Yip Wong Estate's Yip Wo House and Hin Fat Estate's Hin Fat House, both in Tuen Mun District.
The Housing Authority advised those who allocated new flats but cannot afford the rent to request refurbished ones with lower rents or apply for assistance under the Rent Assistance Scheme.
