Study Subsidy Scheme to support nearly 4,000 undergraduate places in 2025-26

The scheme will fund 3,365 places in first-year undergraduate programmes.

The Education Bureau has announced that the Study Subsidy Scheme for designated professions/sectors will support 4,916 places in 55 undergraduate programmes at eight post-secondary institutions for the 2025-26 academic year.

The scheme will fund 3,365 places in first-year undergraduate programmes and 1,551 places in top-up degree programmes, covering ten key disciplines, namely, architecture and engineering, computer science, creative industries, fintech, healthcare, insurance, logistics, sports and recreation, testing and certification, and tourism and hospitality.

Additionally, eight applied degrees from the Pilot Project on Applied Degree Programmes will receive extra subsidies to bolster vocational education.

For the upcoming academic year, subsidies for laboratory-based programmes will increase from $79,770 to $81,450, and for non-laboratory-based programmes from $45,810 to $46,780.

The scheme, introduced in 2015-16 and expanded in 2023-24 to include top-up degrees, aims to support students in self-financing programmes that meet Hong Kong’s social and economic needs.
