HK achieves record-breaking 539 FDIs 2024
The total investment brought to Hong Kong’s economy reached $67.7b.
Hong Kong hit record-breaking foreign direct investments in 2024, assisting 539 overseas companies to set up and expand operations in the city, a 41% year-on-year increase.
According to InvestHK, the total investment brought to Hong Kong’s economy reached $67.7b, which also represents a nearly 10% increase compared to 2023.
Amongst the 539 companies, 273 came from the Mainland, followed by the US, France, the UK, and Singapore. These companies are expected to create 6,864 job opportunities.
The top few sectors include innovation and technology, financial services and fintech, and family offices.
Director-General of Investment Promotion Alpha Lau at InvestHK said the government intends to explore emerging markets and strengthen promotional efforts in the Belt & Road initiative.
Additionally, InvestHK’s New Capital Investment Entrant Scheme received more than 800 applications by the end of 2024 which will bring in around $24b in investments to the city.
