Hong Kongers lose 60% of time savings to correcting AI errors
Frequent AI users review outputs with the same or greater care than work produced by humans.
Approximately 60% of time saved through artificial intelligence (AI) in Hong Kong is lost to correcting low-quality output, according to Workday research.
Whilst 92% of local employees save one to seven hours per week using AI tools, 58% lose one to two hours per week to errors and content rewriting. About 30% of employees receive AI content of sufficient quality that requires minimal rework.
Frequent users report a burden, as 77% review AI outputs with the same or greater care than human-generated work, the report cited.
Employees aged 25 to 34 perform roughly 46% of AI rework. Whilst 64% of Hong Kong leaders identify skills training as a priority, only 38% of employees with high rework levels have access to it.
In 88% of Hong Kong organisations, fewer than half of job roles reflect AI capabilities, Workday said.
Companies allocate approximately 41% of AI-related savings to technology and 28% to employee development, whilst 18% of firms use AI time savings to increase worker workloads.
Global data shows that 57% of organisations with positive AI outcomes use saved time for analysis and decision-making, and these employees receive training at a rate of 79%.
Daniel Cham, General Manager for Workday Greater China, said the focus of AI must shift to measurable growth, with investment targeting tools and capabilities to upskill employees and translate productivity gains into tangible business outcomes.
