HK unemployment rate steady at 3%

The underemployment also remained at 1.2%.

The seasonally adjusted unemployment rate remained at 3% for April to June, unchanged from the previous period, the Census and Statistics Department announced.

The underemployment also held steady at 1.2%.

Meanwhile, total number of employed individuals increased by 6,400 to 3,703,300, whilst the labor force grew by 4,900 to 3,818,000. 

The number of unemployed decreased by 1,500 to 114,700. Underemployed individuals numbered 44,500, slightly down from 44,700.

Labour and Welfare Secretary Chris Sun said that with low unemployment rates across sectors, the labor market is expected to stay tight as the economy continues to grow.
