Around 9 in 10 people in Hong Kong would buy engagement ring locally
Preference for a more glamorous wedding is now back.
About 94% of respondents in Hong Kong said they are planning to buy their engagement rings in local jewellery stores, according to a study by diamond company De Beers Group.
The survey found that 80% prefer natural diamonds for their engagement rings with 82% saying this is important for their wedding plan.
The report also found that the preference for a more glamorous wedding re-emerged following the end of the pandemic.

Around 54% are in favour of a good balance of simplicity and grandeur, with the simple and casual wedding coming in as second choice at 39%, following a high popularity last year.
About 28% prefer travel weddings, the survey showed.
The pre-bridal survey conducted by NielsenIQ and commissioned by De Beers Group involved 482 participants aged 18 to 44. Around 72% of them were either engaged or in a serious relationship.
