Sustainable Development Fund splurged $6.4m in 6 new projects

According to a report, the Sustainable Development Fund has approved six projects totalling $6.4 million for building a sustainable community and promoting sustainable habits.

Council for Sustainable Development Education & Publicity Sub-committee Chair Miranda Leung announced the approved projects today.

"We believe that these projects will become models for wider dissemination of the sustainable development message," Mrs Leung said.

The projects include community and stakeholder engagement related to environmental awareness and corporate social responsibility, and will last from five to 24 months. This is the 10th round of applications.

The six approved projects include "A Life Cycle Sustainability Assessment on Denim Garments - Guidance for Consumers" by the Clothing Industry Training Authority, "Conserve Our Resources When Young" by Drama Gallery, and "Community Mushroom Growing Project" by the Food Education Association.

The other projects are "Southern District Sustainable Development Education Programme" by the Warehouse Teenage Club, "Energising Kowloon East: Sustainable Development of Made in Hong Kong Project" by Hulu Culture, and "Upcycling the Tai Po Community Project" by the Hong Kong Federation of Women's Centres.
