AIA Hong Kong and Macau appoints 3 VPs

The insurer picks Adrian Au, Jim Jan Zen, and Esther Wong to align employee expertise with corporate goals.

American International Assurance Company (Bermuda) Limited (“AIA Hong Kong and Macau”) on Wednesday announced the appointment of three senior executives.

Adrian Au was appointed Vice President and Head of Equity Investment, Hong Kong and Macau, effective 1 June 2011. Mr. Au is responsible for leading equity investment and asset allocation strategies for the Department of Equity Investment which is a newly established team. To deliver optimum investment results, he also oversees the construction and management of Hong Kong’s insurance fund equity portfolios. A veteran investment professional, Mr. Au brings 16 years of expertise to the company in research, trading and portfolio management for the Greater China and Asia markets. He previously worked at renowned investment banks and fund management companies and has a sound track record in mutual funds and hedge funds management as well as stock selection and asset allocation. Mr. Au holds a Master’s degree in Electronic Engineering and Economics from University of Cambridge, United Kingdom. He is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA).

Jim Jan Zen was appointed Vice President and Project Head, Hong Kong and Macau, effective 27 June 2011. He now leads the “AIA Premier Academy”, which cultivates a quality team of insurance professionals, taking the firm to greater heights. Mr. Jim has over 28 years of experience in the banking and insurance sector. Since joining AIA Hong Kong and Macau in 1997, he has held various executive roles in Human Resources and Agency Management, making notable contributions to enhancing the performance of the agency force. In 2009, he was transferred to the AIA Group to assume a regional role in the Agency and Distribution Department. Mr. Jim received a Bachelor of Business Management (Human Resources) degree from RMIT University, Australia, and his second Bachelor’s degree in China Law from the University of Hong Kong and Tsinghua University. He is a Certified Financial Planner (CFP), Certified Financial Management Planner (CFMP), Fellow of Life Management Institute (FLMI), and a holder of the Hong Kong Securities Institute Specialist Certificate.

Esther Wong has been appointed Vice President and Head of Corporate Solutions, Hong Kong and Macau, effective 1 August 2011. She is responsible for managing business development, client relations, as well as marketing and operations for the group insurance business to strengthen the firm’s leading position. Ms. Wong has more than 20 years of experience in the insurance industry covering mainland China, Taiwan, Japan and Korea. She has held senior positions in various leading insurance companies and has developed a recognised expertise in employee benefits and accident and health insurance. Prior to rejoining AIA Group Corporate Solutions in March 2011, Ms. Wong led the Accident and Health Department of AIA Hong Kong and Macau between 2000 and 2005. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree from University of Manitoba, Canada, according to an AIA Hong KOng and Macau report.
