New year, new banknotes!

New year, new banknotes!

HSBC’s new HK$100 note will be in circulation starting January 11.

Two other note-issuing banks, Chartered Bank (Hong Kong) Limited and Bank of China (Hong Kong) Limited will roll out the new HK$20 banknotes on the same day.

According to the Hong Kong Monetary Authority, the new banknotes will be available for exchange at branches of the three note-issuing banks starting from 11 January 2012, together with new notes of other denominations, to meet demand for notes as lai-see.

With the issuance of these new banknotes, the entire 2010 Series Hong Kong Banknotes will be in circulation.
