Construction Safety Week unveiled

Over 30,000 construction workers joined in a pledge.

According to a report, Construction Safety Week was launched today at Kai Tak, to promote an accident-free site environment and a caring culture in the construction industry. The campaign is being held from today until May 31.

Chief Executive CY Leung led more than 30,000 construction workers in a pledge to work together to achieve the goal of zero accidents on construction sites.

With ‘Working Together Towards One Goal for You and Your Families: Zero Accidents’ as the slogan, the event encouraged workers to stay vigilant at work, take adequate safety precautions and support their colleagues.

More than 500 construction workers attended the opening Zero Accident Declaration Ceremony, and 30,000 workers from 800 construction sites participated via live video transmission.

Other campaign activities include a safety conference, visits to construction sites with exemplary safety performance, and the Considerate Contractors Site Award Scheme 2012 Award Presentation Ceremony.
