Over 5,800 apply for light public housing
About 4,440 units will begin to be rolled out in Q1 2025.
Hong Kong has received around 5,800 applications for its light public housing (LPH) program, the city’s acting housing czar said.
The application period for LPH Phase 1, which began on 24 June, includes two projects at Yau Pok Road (Yuen Long) and Choi Hing Road (Ngau Tau Kok) that will provide about 4,440 units. The units are expected to be ready for occupation beginning Q1 2025.
Victor Tai, Acting Secretary for Housing, reportedly said that there has been an “overwhelming” response to LPH, according to a report by news.gov.hk.
Tai further encouraged eligible members of the public living in inadequate housing to apply for LPH to give themselves and their families a chance to improve their living environment.
