HKIA launches anti-scam charter with financial regulators
The initiative involves 230 participating institutions.
The Insurance Authority (IA) in partnership with Hong Kong financial regulators will launch the Anti-Scam Consumer Protection Charter 2.0 (Charter).
The initiative will provide financial institutions with guidelines for protecting customers from illegal digital acts and emphasizing the significance of personal information security.

Participating institutions will refrain from sending electronic messages with links requesting personal information, will educate customers about anti-scam practices, and will ensure proper staff training alongside providing appropriate channels for customer support.
Amongst the 230 participating institutions, 73 are authorised insurers and licensed insurance broker companies.
