3 in 5 Hong Kong workers use AI at work to reduce burn out
Over 33% of Hong Kong workers feel extremely burnt out.
In Hong Kong, 60% of workers use Gen AI at work, the highest usage rate globally alongside Singapore, UiPath reported.
Hong Kong is known for its long working hours and was once ranked as the second most overworked city in the world with workers facing constantly high workload.
Over 33% of employees in Hong Kong indicated feeling extremely or very burnt out (32%, global). To reduce burnout and improve engagement, Hong Kong workers seek a reduced workload (64%), access to AI tools (44%), and more creative flexibility (44%).
Whilst 72% of Hong Kong workers do not use Gen AI at work, over half of the users (51%) have observed increased productivity, improved workflows (43%), and higher accuracy (43%)
In addition, 59% of Hong Kong workers who use Gen AI at work saved time on work-related tasks, such as translating (41%), drafting communications (36%), and brainstorming (30%).
Meanwhile, almost one in two (48%) workers save 10 or more hours with the use of Gen AI at work.
As a result, they can spend more time with their family (48%), end their workday earlier (46%), and invest more time in creative tasks (45%). Close to half (45%) also have reduced feelings of burnout.
UiPath also revealed that Gen AI tools are mostly used by workers with roles in information technology (84%), executive leadership (81%), and human resources (66%).
Most Hong Kong workers (63%), across different generations, trust the output from Gen AI tools. Specifically, 75% of Gen Z and 58% of Millennials believe Gen AI has saved them time on tasks (45%, Gen X).
Despite the increasing adoption of Gen AI at work, workers are concerned about security risks (37%), inaccurate output (34%), and inadequate governance to ensure proper usage (25%).
UiPath surveyed 578 full-time Hong Kong workers.
