InterContinental Hotels appoints Bryan Gabriel as General Manager of Hotel Indigo
He will head the pre-opening and opening of the hotel.
According to a release, InterContinental Hotels Group has appointed Bryan Gabriel as General Manager, Hotel Indigo Hong Kong Island, overseeing all stages of the pre-opening and opening of the new property in Wan Chai, Hong Kong.
Hotel Indigo Hong Kong Island is a striking architectural addition to the fabric of Wan Chai, one of Hong Kong’s most culturally rich and historic neighbourhoods. The hotel’s fresh and stylish design is original and evocative of its culturally rich urban environment, featuring a striking bronze dragon wrapped around the exterior of the building.
Set over 29 floors, 138 individually styled rooms capture the history of the neighbourhood through the use of design and artwork. The rooftop will be the new, hot Hong Kong destination, showcasing a contemporary bar, SkyBar and dramatic infinity glass bottomed pool. Wan Chai’s shops, markets, restaurants and bars are at the hotel’s doorstep.
“It is an inspiring opportunity to be appointed to oversee Hotel Indigo Hong Kong Island.” Said Bryan “We are creating something truly intriguing and culturally rich in a neighbourhood of Hong Kong that boasts many of the city’s newest art galleries, restaurants and shopping destinations. We look forward to sharing this new
experience in Hong Kong with our well travelled and savvy guests in an architectural environment that is both striking in design and intimate in its service.”
Bryan brings extensive industry experience to the project having spent the last twenty years working on a number of high profile projects and distinctive properties throughout Asia and Australia.
Among his career milestones, Bryan spent a three year period as General Manager of The Establishment, one of the high profile and landmark 5-star boutique properties to open in Sydney, Australia, over the last decade.
Whilst Bryan was at the helm, the hotel won a number of prestigious awards, including the National Australian Hotel Association’s award for Best Boutique Hotel Accommodation in Australia.
Following a tenure with the group earlier in his career, Bryan then returned to InterContinental Hotels Group as Director of Sales & Marketing at InterContinental Jakarta MidPlaza.
During his time in Jakarta, Bryan was instrumental in successfully raising the property’s brand awareness and winning in the 2006 Indonesia Leading Hotel category in the World Travel Awards.
After his successful and productive tenure in Jakarta, Bryan accepted the challenge of joining the pre-opening and opening team for the Crowne Plaza Changi Airport in Singapore; a truly unique project encapsulating both a legitimate and modern city hotel, as well as an airport hotel, all in one.
The property has reshaped the landscape for the future of hotels within airports.
Bryan then became Area Director of Sales & Marketing, Singapore, providing leadership and support for the four Singapore properties under the IHG banner.
Following this Bryan was appointed to Director of Sales & Marketing at InterContinental Bali Resort and Area Director of Sales & Marketing IHG Indonesia. After overseeing a development project in Shanghai China, Bryan was appointed General Manager, Hotel Indigo Hong Kong Island.
