Civil Service Bureau appoints Ling Kar-kan as Director of Planning
He will take over starting 9 December.
According to a government release, the Civil Service Bureau announced that Ling Kar-kan has been appointed Director of Planning from December 9.
He is currently Deputy Director of Planning, and will succeed Jimmy Leung, who will retire after 34 years of service.
Secretary for the Civil Service Paul Tang said Mr Ling has proven leadership and administrative skills, and profound professional knowledge as well as extensive operational experience.
He also praised Mr Leung for his zeal and commitment in the civil service throughout the years, saying he has led the department to make professional contributions to the formulation of sustainable strategies and plans for the use and development of land.
Aged 55, Mr Ling joined the Government as an Assistant Town Planner in September 1983. He was promoted to Chief Town Planner in May 1996, to Government Town Planner in June 2008, and to Principal Government Town Planner in February 2011.
