
September goods re-exports volume up 19%
The highest export volume to Japan grew 22.9%, the highest, followed by Taiwan, 19%; and to China, 18.4%.
In September the volume of Hong Kong's goods re-exports rose 18.9% over the same month last year, while that of domestic exports rose 16.7%.
According to Census & Statistics Department figures released on Thursday, the volume of total goods exports rose 18.8% while the volume of goods imports rose 13.5%.
Comparing this year’s first nine months with the same period last year, the volume of Hong Kong's goods re-exports was up 22.1% while that of domestic exports was up 17.2%. The volume of total goods exports went up 22%, while that of goods imports increased 23.2%.
Comparing September with the same month last year, the prices of goods re-exports rose 5.3% while that of domestic exports went up 5%. Taken together, the prices of total goods exports rose 5.3% while the total prices of goods imports was up 7.4%, according to a Census and Statistics Department report.
During the same period, the total export volume to Japan grew 22.9%. That to Taiwan was up 19%, to the Mainland, up 18.4%, and to the US, up 17%. Total export volume to Germany declined 1.9%.
Meanwhile, the total export prices to all main destinations increased. For example, those to Taiwan rose 6.7%, to the Mainland, 5.9%, and to the US, 4.1%.
