Contractor banned from public works tenders after fatal incident in Ho Man Tin

The contractor will also undergo an independent safety audit.

The Development Bureau has suspended the contractor involved in a fatal industrial incident at a construction site in Ho Man Tin from bidding on public works contracts.

Aside from notifying the contractor of its suspension from tendering for public works contracts in the buildings category, the bureau has ordered it to undergo an independent safety audit.

The contractor will need to address the audit findings, submit an improvement action plan, and implement measures to prove the effectiveness of its safety management system before the suspension can be lifted. 

The suspension applies not only to future tender exercises but also to those in which procedures have been initiated but not concluded.

Meanwhile, the Labour Department is investigating the incident. 

Subject to the investigation findings, the bureau will impose further regulatory actions on the contractor concerned.
