Providence Equity Partners appoints Tao Sun as Managing Director

He will also be taking on the role of Head of China Investment Activities focused on the Greater China market.

Mr. Sun joins Providence from Actis, where he was a Partner in their Beijing office. Prior to joining Actis in 2008, Mr. Sun worked for Merrill Lynch & Co. in Hong Kong, where he was responsible for private equity deal execution and portfolio management in China. Mr. Sun holds an M.B.A. from INSEAD and an M.S. in Statistics and B.A. in Business Administration from Beijing University.

Providence’s investments in China include Qiyi, a joint venture with Baidu, and TVB, the largest television broadcaster in Hong Kong.
