Housing Bureau launches light housing aid scheme

It will provide allowances ranging from $1900 to $12,550.

The Housing Bureau launched a trial scheme to assist Light Public Housing (LPH) households in adapting to new neighbourhoods.

Secretary for Housing Winnie Ho said the bureau successfully applied to the Commission on Poverty for an HK$89.88m fund to establish the scheme, adding that 21,000 households will be beneficiaries.

The scheme will provide allowances ranging from $1900 to $12,550, depending on the number of family members.

It will last for two years and is targeted at households which submitted applications and passed the eligibility verification.

Households are required to reside in their unit for at least one year after receiving the allowance.
