HKPC launches joint lab with CAICT, PolyU to advance R&D
It aims to enhance the competitiveness of Greater Bay Area enterprises in innovation and technology.
The Hong Kong Productivity Council (HKPC), China Academy of Information and Communications Technology, and Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU) have partnered to advance research and establish a new industrial ecosystem.
Research areas include computing infrastructure, industrial internet, smart manufacturing, Internet of Things, artificial intelligence, and cyber security. Together, they will set up a joint laboratory to offer domestic and international testing and certification services.
HKPC is leading this initiative with an emphasis on "Three Bigs and One New": new industrialisation, big communications, big digitalisation, and big security, to further industrialise research findings and foster emerging industries.
This partnership supports the cooperation agreement on the development of new quality productive forces and promotion of new industrialisation between Hong Kong and China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, aiming to strengthen collaboration across government, industry, academia, and investment sectors.
The joint lab aims to enhance the competitiveness of Greater Bay Area enterprises in innovation and technology through comprehensive hardware and software research and development (R&D).
Its three key missions include aligning domestic and international standards, assisting local and regional enterprises in gaining digital and cybersecurity certifications for global markets, and fostering high-quality development of emerging industries.
PolyU’s expertise in R&D for hardware, software, and standards will help commercialise research outcomes and promote "One Assessment, Multiple Certifications" for joint testing efforts.
This will strengthen regional testing capabilities, incubate impactful pilot cases, and bolster Hong Kong's role in driving new productive forces and information technology development.
