Hong Kong attracts 66 strategic enterprises
About 60% of these enterprises have set up new operations in the region.
The Office for Attracting Strategic Enterprises (OASES) has successfully drawn 66 strategic enterprises to establish or expand their presence in Hong Kong, marking a significant boost to the city’s status as a global innovation and business hub.
Approximately 60% of these enterprises have set up new operations in the city, whilst the remaining 40% have expanded their existing businesses or are planning to do so.
The enterprises span key industries, with 22 in life and health technology, 24 in artificial intelligence and data science, 8 in financial technology, and 12 in advanced manufacturing and new energy technology. Nearly half of these 66 enterprises are leading companies in their respective sectors, and 80% of them intend to establish their global or regional headquarters in Hong Kong.
All the companies plan to establish research and development centers and/or production bases in the city.
Over the next several years, their collective investments are projected to reach $42b, creating approximately 17,000 jobs.
Since many enterprises are in the early stages of operation, and their recruitment and investment plans remain confidential, OASES has not yet disclosed detailed information on these developments. However, the office emphasised the transformative potential of these investments for Hong Kong's innovation ecosystem and broader economic growth.
