CLP, CNOOC force Hong Kong's pivot to zero-carbon energy tech

The scope of the new MOU will target a diversified range of low-carbon and zero-carbon technologies.

CLP Holdings Limited (CLP) and China National Offshore Oil Corporation (CNOOC) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to accelerate Hong Kong’s transition towards green energy.

The scope of the new MOU will target a diversified range of low-carbon and zero-carbon technologies and explore joint ventures in renewable energy projects within the Chinese Mainland.

A key focus of the agreement is the development of emerging innovations, including hydrogen energy and carbon capture, utilisation, and storage (CCUS).

Additionally, both parties aim to leverage their experience with the Hong Kong Offshore Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) Terminal to bolster the city's standing as a premier green maritime fuel bunkering hub.
