9 in 10 restaurants rely on delivery platforms for revenue during key events

87% expect delivery services to remain important to their business.

Over 90% of restaurants relied on delivery platforms to maintain or boost revenue during major events and festivities in the past quarter, according to a survey by Deliveroo.

The survey, conducted from 2 to 13 October, showed continued reliance on delivery services, with 87% of restaurants expecting them to be equally or more important to their business in the near future.

Summer sports events and the Mid-Autumn Festival boosted both dine-in and takeaway sales. During the festival, 67% of restaurants saw stable or increased dine-in revenue, and 63% reported similar growth in takeaway orders. About 92% credited delivery platforms for helping them maintain or increase business during these busy periods.

Looking ahead, 83% of restaurants expect the upcoming festive season to have a positive or neutral impact on business. To prepare, 39% plan to expand their takeaway menus, 35% are organising promotions, and 54% will adjust their menus for the cooler weather.
