Hong Kong Exchange appoints Yang Qiumei senior VP
Yang has extensive experience in Mainland as securities regulator executive supervising fund-management companies.
Hong Kong Exchanges & Clearing Limited has appointed Yang Qiumei as Senior Vice President, Deputy Head of Market Development and Head of the Market Development Division's Mainland Development Department.
Ms Yang will join the company on October 18. She will be a member of the senior management committee and report to Romnesh Lamba, HKEx's Head of Market Development, according to an HKEx report.
Ms Yang has strong credentials and extensive experience in securities-market regulation on the Mainland.
Her most recent position was Deputy Director-General in the Department of Investment Fund Supervision at the China Securities Regulatory Commission, where she was in charge of supervising fund-management companies and matters related to qualified foreign institutional investors and qualified domestic institutional investors.
Ms Yang joined the commission in August 2000 and has served on its Planning Commission and as Deputy Director-General in the Department of International Affairs, where she was actively involved in the commission's signing of the International Organisation of Securities Commissions' Multilateral Memorandum of Understanding.
Before joining the China Securities Regulatory Commission, Ms Yang was a consultant at the Organisation for Economic Cooperation & Development in Paris and an adjunct professor in the Department of Economics at George Washington University in the US.
