Around 2.8m people plan to shop during the current festive season sales.
Nearly two in three Hong Kong adults will be shopping Black Friday and other festive sale days this year, according to a survey from financial comparison site Finder.com.
Conducted on over 1,200 adults, the survey reveals 60% or around 2.8m people are planning to shop on festive sales-- if the price is right.
Those planning to shop say it will take an average discount of 44% for them to make a purchase.
Women (62%) are slightly more likely to shop the sales than men (57%), but the latter might be tempted by a smaller discount.
The survey says men need a discount of 43% to motivate purchase, whilst women need a 46% discount.
However, Finder.com senior writer James Martin has warned consumers about impulse purchases and overspending this sales season.
“Ask yourself if it’s something you would have bought if the sale price was the normal retail price, or whether you’re getting swept away by discounts,” he advised.
