Financial ‘experts' more likely to compromise values for money: survey

But majority of Hong Kong investors refuse to give up their beliefs for higher investment returns.

More knowledgeable investors will more likely compromise their personal values, a survey by Schroder Investment Management shows.

At least 37% of investors who rate their investment knowledge as expert, or advanced, will more likely choose a higher return on investment at the cost of their personal beliefs.

But overall, the survey found that majoriy Hong Kong investors (73%) still refuse to give up their beliefs even if the returns in investments are higher.

The survey put investors with intermediate skills to forgo morals for money at 25% and those with beginner levels at 20%.

The survey also found that 40% of Hong Kong investors are attracted to sustainable investments because they believe they are more likely to offer higher returns.

The Schroders Global Investor Study 2020 canvassed 23,000 investors, 500 which are investors in Hong Kong, in 32 locations all over the world between 30 April and 15 June.
