Munchy's takes a bite at The Asian Export Awards

Established in 1991, the company is renowned for producing delicious biscuits.

Singapore Business Review and Hong Kong Business recognised Asia's leading exporters and their award-winning products and services at the recently concluded Asian Export Awards 2019.

On its second year, the awards event lauds exceptional products and services that have remarkably enhanced a company's business in the regional export scene.

This pinnacle event for Asia's best exporters is open to two divisions—the large corporate for big companies with group turnover of over $300 million and the local champion for small or medium-sized enterprises.

Munchy’s was hailed Local Champion in the biscuit category at the recently concluded Asian Export Awards held at Conrad Centennial Singapore on 28 November.

With strong brand presence that caters to all consumer segments, the company stays true to its mission of providing fun, cheeky, yummylicious biscuits and snacks for everybody around the world. Munchy’s products are available in over 20,000 outlets in Malaysia and can be found in more than 50 countries globally.

Munchy’s is trusted for its high-quality and food safety standards, which are achieved through strict verification procedures. The company’s commitment to quality is also evident in the certifications it has obtained with respect to maintaining high operating standards, including ISO 9001:2008, ISO 22000:2005, HACCP certification, the British Retail Consortium Standard, and the Japan Good Design Mark.

As the Malaysian government focuses on turning the nation into an international Halal hub, Munchy’s has made it a priority to ensure that its products comply with Halal Standards, with all supply chain and manufacturing processes meticulously reviewed by a Halal Committee. All Munchy’s products are Halal certified by JAKIM in Malaysia and JAKIM accredited certification bodies overseas.

As one of the key biscuit manufacturers in Malaysia, Munchy’s has achieved volume leadership since September 2018.

Leveraging on its strong domestic market leadership and thriving export business, Munchy’s has entered into the original equipment manufacturer (OEM) business in various countries such as Australia, Japan, China, Taiwan, and the Philippines. With a reputable industry know-how and superior product quality, Munchy’s is one of the top performing SKUs in the Japanese market.

Aside from being named the ‘Largest Wafer Manufacturer by the Malaysia Book of Records in 2006, Munchy’s has been honoured at the Putra Brand Awards, BrandLaureate Awards and Reader’s Digest Trusted Brand Awards. Most recently, Munchy’s added another feather to its cap with the receipt of an international award, the World Branding Awards.

The Asian Export Awards 2019, co-presented by Singapore Business Review and Hong Kong Business, was held on 28 November at Shangri-La Hotel Singapore.

This year's nominations were judged by a panel consisting of Chong Cheng Yuan, Partner & Industry Lead, Industrial Manufacturing at RSM; Kuntha Chelvanathan, Partner Supply Chain and Operations at Ernst & Young Advisory Pte Ltd; James Elsom, Executive Director, Corporate Finance Advisory at Deloitte Asia Pacific; and Cheng Soon Keong, Director, Corporate Advisory Services at BDO LLP.
