The US$11b rail project connects Hong Kong to the Mainland in less than 20 minutes.

China’s $11b bullet train had officially made its debut in Hong Kong as eager passengers sped across the border at speeds up to 200KPH where they are able to reach the Mainland in less than an half an hour.

Passengers can go directly to 44 Mainland stations via the Hong Kong section of the Express Rail Link (XRL).

Spanning 26 km, the Hong Kong section of the XRL connects with the Mainland section and the country’s 25,000-km national high-speed rail network. The XRL also connects Hong Kong with the Capital Economic Circle and Yangtze River Delta Region through the Beijing-Guangzhou Passenger Line and the Hangzhou-Fuzhou-Shenzhen Passenger Line.

The project is part of the Greater Bay Area effort to connect nine cities in Guangdong, Macau and Hong Kong into an integrated economic hub.
