InnoCarnival 2013 ongoing in Hong Kong

Aims to promote an innovation and technology culture.

InnoCarnival 2013 opened November 2 and will end November 10.The carnival is being held at the Hong Kong Science Park and is part of InnoTech Month 2013, a mega event to lasting until December 7 and organized by the Innovation and Technology Commission (ITC).

ITC aims to promote an innovation and technology culture among people from all walks of life through a diverse array of activities.

The activities of InnoCarnival 2013 aim to introduce, through a lively and easy-to-understand approach, various technologies to the general public of all ages and backgrounds so that they will not only find the technologies interesting but also understand the importance of technological development to our daily life,” said Financial Secretary John Tsang.

This year's InnoCarnival provides the public with over 700 free activities suitable for people of all ages and local innovation and research achievements showcased by over 60 organizations.

Exhibits include a mobile manipulator, a flying robot and robot fish, along with green inventions such as a refuse sorting device, a food waste decomposer, a process to convert wastes into fungal products, and more. Healthcare and innovations for the elderly, including a household medical self-monitoring system called "Vital-i" and wearable electronics for better Alzheimer's patient management, will also be displayed.
