Construction output falls 7% to $60.4b in Q3

Residential building projects amounted to $16.3b in the same quarter.

The total gross value of construction works performed by main contractors decreased 7% in real terms to $60.4b, according to the provisional results of the Quarterly Survey of Construction Output by the Census and Statistics Department.

Analysed by type of construction works, the gross value of construction works performed at private sector sites decreased by 10.6% in real terms to $17.9b whilst construction works at public sector sites similarly dipped 13.9% in real terms to $20.4b.

Analysed by major end-use group, the gross value of construction of residential buildings was valued at $16.3b whilst transport projects was valued at $11b in Q3.
